The History of the Moore Family Farm

Our farm, Windswept Maples, was named for the windy weather and many maple trees that have always been apparent on our farm. Around 1780, Archeles Moore founded our farm after moving from a nearby area. The maple trees on our land, and all along our road have been tapped ever since. The land in this area has also been farmed since that time.

Over the years there have been many changes and many new Moore farmers, but it has always stayed a family farm. There are currently three generations of Moores working the farm, and most of the current Moore family is still in the area. As of today we have over 125 Suffolk and Dorset sheep, 60 cows, and about 200 chickens. Even though we now have many animals and a large vegetable business, the maple syrup part of our farm is still our favorite and always will be!
